It's bittersweet but I resigned today. It took a fair bit of effort but I gathered my courage and gave my one week's notice. The boss looked surprised and then said "Ok". He sounded pretty pleased, I'm sure they were just waiting to get rid of me.
Anyway, as we were closing today he mentioned that one week is for non-casuals and how about we just make today my last day. I had been expecting to work the rest of the week if only to help them out since they're always so pointedly saying they really need me for Saturdays. Oh well, their loss.
They get at least one application/resume each week or fortnight so I'm sure I'll be easy to replace. It'd be nice if they have all sorts of trouble now that I'm gone and realise how good an employee I was but that's wishful thinking; I barely scraped by although I did work very hard.
Depressingly I am now unemployed again but that's my own doing. At least I won't be entirely miserable most of the time. I might call the temp agencies again and tell them I'm available. Don't know if anything will come of it but why not. I had been hoping to use this last week for a bit of a float fund for the interim. Nevermind. Guess buying those DVDs wasn't so wise after all.
Got an email already that they've been shipped. 2 to 7 days postage which is great news. I'll need something to pass the time.
They turned down my request for payment for the 3rd and 4th October quoting "you don't get paid for trial days" which I'm fairly certain is illegal so I asked if he was sure and he was. "Okay then. I'll check things up on my end but otherwise thanks." Did the old "thanks for the opportunity" drivel. He couldn't get rid of me fast enough, I think.
Will call the Dept Industrial Relations or derivitives, tomorrow. I could have gone down to see my brother after all but flights are now $400 each way. Ouch. I'll just house-sit.
I'm hoping for a decent night's sleep tonight. I haven't been sleeping all that well with issues about work both customers complaints and also the notion of confronting the boss about leaving. Maybe that'll continue until I find out if I need evidence before I can pursue my trial lack of pay.
So, essentially that'll be the end of me whinging about work... at least until I get another job.

My brother's girlfriend is working on Christmas Day so it's unlikely we'll see much of her. She's coming around this week in order to give us our gifts. As is always the way; she will be coming over at the beginning of my days off so I probably won't have time to get her gift before she shows up.
Depending on timing and such I may be able to get it in time. I'll return her books while I'm at it.
When I had dial up with Optusnet, they offered a voucher with dstore.com.au equal to my monthly fee so I had an account with them. That was a long time ago, a fact probably not needing to be mentioned since the sentence included "dial-up". Generally DStore is more expensive so I haven't shopped there since. Amusingly, they're doing some account house-keeping and offered me a $10 voucher to reactivate my account but it had to be used by the 31st.
I wasn't sure I'd end up using it but on a whim I looked up Beast Wars DVDs, that's Blackarachnia from the series pointing her weapon at you, and they had all three seasons in stock. I looked all over, a while ago, and could only find Season 1 in stock. I weighed it for a bit then decided "what the hells" and bought all three with $10 off. It was cheaper than EzyDVD even without the voucher.
According to the site I may even get it before Christmas. Astounding but it would be well timed.
Guilt is a slight factor since I'm about to leave my job and thus will have no income until I find another. Heh, on the bright side at least I'll have a few things to do while I look.
Friends have invited me to Funzone, the only local arcade. I've probably only been there 5 or 6 times in my life and they've changed premises half as many times over the years. I seldom get a chance to socialise with local friends, or non-local ones for that matter. While being with lots of people drains me, every now and then it's nice to have some good company. The arcade, however, would not have been my first choice... or have appeared anywhere on the list for that matter.
This weekend will mark the return of my brother from his very intense and seemingly endless military training. I'm supposed to set up his Surround Sound speakers before he gets here. Really must remember that. Also, I need to pick up something nice for Mum other than the gift I've already gotten her since she knows what it is. I prefer to surprise people if I can.
Does the update journal webpage ever stay the same? Gets me all mixed up.
New Years is not something I generally celebrate, however, I have been invited to Brisbane for the occasion. It would be nice to go since once or twice this year I've already had to cancel trips. Grrr. There is my Perth trip to consider, however. I really hope I can afford that next year, definitely good incentive to get another job.
I'm considering creating a new persona for MSN. There is a lot of dead wood on my current list and I've somewhat outgrown my hotmail address... the spam alone... I'll think on it some more but don't fear, I'll post any new contact details if it comes to that.

Waiting until the best moment has, so far, proved exceptionally ineffective at anything other than assisting procrastination. I hate that I don't like confrontation so much that I find it hard to mention things like this and the money that I know they aren't going to pay me without my bringing in legalities which I'm sure would be great for my reference.
This job doesn't suit me. Sales and retail do not mix well with my personality and despite trying ever since I started and having an open mind about sales, I do not enjoy it. As such I will not be staying on. Grateful for the opportunity and I regret that it's not for me.
Incidentally, I also want money owed from my two trial days on the third and fourth October 2006 totally 16 hours of unpaid time.
Yes, Otto said I wasn't going to be paid for that when I mentioned it last time but I have informed that not paying for trials is against the law. I have no desire to cause problems and would much prefer to part on good terms.
If they still refuse then I should point out that I find that unacceptable and I won't be yielding the matter.
I hope I don't need evidence.

I don't like airports.
Saw an ad for Jetstar having overseas available in November and the guy walks away at the end with a wave and I said to myself "I hate airports" so it must be true, 'cause I said it.
Every time I go to Brisbane I end up spending a whole heap of time at airports and it's not pleasant. There's all the people around and the waiting - I utterly despise waiting - and while it's somewhat interesting to watch all the people for a little while, frankly they're not that interesting and short of accosting them I'll never have any idea of their stories and if I did go up to everyone and ask for their life story I'd probably get kicked out because people would think me serial killer material.
Despite the general two hours or more of waiting it still beats the 8 hours trip by road. Regardless I always feel sick after I travel whether air or ground. More often than not, also during.

No nasty spoilers although I wasn't listening 100% of the time, I was too busy stopping my keyboard from shorting out from drool.

Watch them if you can and prepare to be impressed. I remember this feeling, it was how I felt in the year and a half or two years before release of the first game.

Yippie! About bloody time.
Not sure I like some of the clips in it, but according to the promo I just say, Alias season 4 begins this month. So they've got 20 days.
It's an odd ad but I'm a little too happy to finally have some news about Alias to care. "From the Creator of Lost comes an All New Series" I got all excited at the Creator of Lost part then it said 'all new series' and I was disappointed. It turned out to be Alias anyway. Series Four, I guess.
Fingers crossed it's closer to now than the end of the month.
Curse my free account, I don't have my Alias icon anymore.

Hello all.
My cousin relayed a little more information today. It's mostly rumour and speculation (and given the results of the last lot, you may want to ignore the below):
House could be on the 29th June.
There are only a few more Lost episodes and 4 more Desperate Housewives so Alias might make an appearance in one of those slots. or in the Amazing Race slot, whenever that dies.
24 is apparently another show to be returning so whichever Alias doesn't take I expect it will use.
Incidentally, thanks to previews, House is brilliant.
Edit: Yes, I'm sick so concentration is shot. This should be in ACTV. So I've crossposted it.

Dana's mouse is stupid. The scroll wheel doesn't move without a LOT of effort so my browsing efficiency has slowed tremendously. Appalling. I'm ashamed of your hardware, Dana.
Incidentally, I'm only using her computer because the one I was so kindly offered is vindictively refusing to allow buttons to appear, such as 'Submit, Login' and so on. So I couldn't view friends' posts or submit comments at all. It was frustrating.
Needless to say, I arrived safe and sound in Brisbane.

I didn't wake up in Hong Kong nor have I been missing two years but I might have been presumed dead... And I don't have a boyfriend who married an unconvincing-evil woman...
Oh, that's a subtle reference to my brother buying me Season 3 of Alias on DVD. No doubt the smart ones of you caught the reference. ;)
I have been preoccupied (not only with DVDs) the last week so apologies once again. As it is late I will be bedding myself but with the long weekend I should manage to semi-catch-up.
Also, apologies if I missed anything important in anyone's lives and congratulations and so on, belatedly. :)
At least I'm in time for one. Considering I will be home fairly late tomorrow I will say a congratulations and Happy Birthday to b4uistand, who requires only a slightly larger cane than I. :p

I opened up my computer today, something I don't do terribly often. Foolishly I forgot to check how many RAM slots I have left. I have a horrible feeling I only have the two slots in total...
My power supply is 300W which is the minimum specified for the various Graphics Cards I've been looking at on the net. I decided to steer away from AMD64 for the moment. It might be more firmly rooted by the time I need a new one again and I can look at them then. At the moment, despite the huge cost, the X800 Pro from Radeon is still calling to me. $700 is a lot more than I intended to spend, though but I would hope that'd keep me going for another two years if not more and give me excellent performance in all my games. It might even have DVI features...

I bought my computer two years ago come April. It's 2.4GHz with 512 RAM. It has a GeForce 4 Ti4200 128MB.
I am happy with with it. I have been happy with it for the last near two years. It's nearly come to the point where a further 1GHz of speed is now available, not that I think I need it. I would be more likely to get more RAM first because I believe that always improves performance.
Mostly I do little bar use the Web, MSN and watch movies. I do play games and lately they're requiring higher-end power, especially graphics. Thus, I thought I might finally upgrade.
Unfortunately, despite my really wanting it, hardware was covered for a split second in my course at Uni and I know very little about these things and I don't really trust myself to go digging around, although I did assemble my cousin's computer when he bought the parts...
But knowing whether I'll need a larger Motherboard (I refuse to call it a mainboard, political correct be damned) to handle a higher processor (in the unlikely event I get one) or if I require a higher power supply to work a graphics card and even which graphics card might be best all-round.
Guild Wars works fine as it is, but I've got a little disposible income and 4200Ti is really out of date.
Also, where do people shop? I found a website a long while ago (Australian) but can't remember the address and for some reason I haven't bookmarked it. I figure I'd be better off with online ordering for price but also for supply considering where I live is limited in computing supplies.
Any suggestions or advice at all?

I am having difficulty forgetting about my weekend of playing as I enjoyed it so. I may have to pre-order just to participate in the final two beta weekends.
I apologise for the length but this is a rundown of features that I enjoyed. There are no spoilers for the plot/quests within the game so read freely if online computer games interest you, otherwise I definitely suggest you ignore this entry.
One thing you'll notice about character creation is names. You CANNOT HAVE numbers or non-alphabetical characters of any sort in your name. A-Z and space, that's it. I think this is fantastic. Granted, I believe you can still alter the case of the letters but it stops the really stupid names that just annoy people. On the whole, everyone had names that were either interesting or a bit strange but nothing that made you groan or want to flee to another area immediately.
